Windows Vista May Degrade OpenGL, from SlashDot.

OpenGL 是一個 cross-platform 的多媒體函式庫之一, Alternative 的就是 Microsoft 的 DirectX, OpenGL 也是 Linux 上的主要多媒體函式庫. 用 OpenGL 開發的遊戲可以看這裡. 比較有名的是 id Software 的 Quake serial.

據 Slashdot 這個 story 說, 在下一代的 Windows — Windows Vista 裡, 可能會降低 OpenGL 一半的 performance, 可能是因為 Windows Vista 是透過 Direct3D 來 implement OpenGL.

文中也提到 ” Layering OpenGL over Direct3D is a policy more than a technical decision.”
