What’s New

Portable edition has been also provided since now. It will create a profile folder “Firefox (Profile)” if needed.
Firefox 3.1 becomes 3.5, hence the previous build was Firefox 3.1b3

Can you make a build for the mac/linux platforms because that is my primary use. And firefox is really slow for me on there. Even thought the plugins do not work since it is the beta version.

This is a lifesaver, thank you. With my add-ons, FF3.5b4 used to sit around and eat up 1GB of memory after 2 days of being open. 350MB on start-up. Now it’s using 250MB with a lot of use.

mkay, how about over 30 livemarks refreshing? does it hangs? i have serious problems with that since 3.0 (under 3.5b4 too)

I have liked it. The space this version is occupying is almost 30% lesser than the usual one. But still would love if the startup was faster, well for me as i dont have a great hardware specs compared to todays PC’s…

Unter “pigfoot’s weblog” findet man seit kurzer Zeit eine optimierte Build des bekannten Firefox.
Zur Verfügung steht eine englische Version, optimiert für 3 verschiedene System-Typen:

Holy crap this thing is FAST!

Stats before:
Portable Apps FF3.0.10

RAM used: Appx 1.5GB (80-90 tabs open in 3 windows of FF3, using treestyletab extension to group them into trees of tabs based upon topics.)

STATS USING P3 portable edition:
RAM Use: Appx 600MB (SWEET! – Running all the exact same (minux about 5 that died for unknown reason) tabs in 3 windows!)

Much more responsive and fluid when switching windows….now to test with crappy IE specific pages using IE Tabs! :P

unfortunately, IE Tabs AND IE View are both not compatible with the latest beta (Dang! I really want to use them too! I’ve got some internal webapps for work that I use IE tabs on (which helps already), but this would really speed them up, I think!

Anyone know the IT tabs developer or IE View developer and can get them to update them for this?

if you have incompatible extensions, go to about:config and create a new boolean value: extensions.checkCompatibility and set it to false. all your addons will now load (and most of the time, they work properly). I always do this when testing out FF betas because most plugins aren’t “compatible”, though the only thing that needs to be changed is the bit of code that says it’s compatible with the betas.

I tried the last one but all my add-ons we’re no longer functional. I’m not ready to give them up for this new version until all the add-ons I use catch up.

What is the method to run this? Just extract in Firefox’s Default directory?

Sorry for the double post, but I must add that the following two Java plugins are available (and active) in the Tools>Add-ons>Plugins window:

1. Java (TM) Platform SE 6 U13 6.0.130.3 (Java (TM) Platform SE Binary)
2. Java (TM) Platform SE 6 U13 6.0.130.3 (Java Plug-in 1.6.0_13 for Netscape Navigator (DLL Helper))
