Is there any chance of you optimizing a 3.7 build? I know they’re just nightlies at the moment, but I’d love to see if you can squeeze anything else of it!
Excellent job pigfoot, well done.
I am new to optimized builds and have installed 3.6RC2 into a new folder, but now every time it starts it asks to make itself the default browser…I always say YES, but it still keeps on asking. And when I click on a link from Thunderbird, nothing happens.
What is the correct procedure for installation to a Vista system?
Again, thanks for doing these optimized builds.
Cheers!
I hope 3.6 Final optimized builds will be available here soon.
Thanks in advance ;)
Is there any chance that the patched sourcecode of the Pigfoot optimized builds will be released? I would like to see if I can compile it on Linux with the same optimizations.
Thanks, –Nick
Please maek Firefox 3.6!
How do you “install” this optimized build of firefox?

You need to make a folder. I made one in Programs and titled it Firefox (pigfoot) then unzipped the contents into the folder. Drag the exe to the Desktop and make a shortcut to it. If you’ve had FF installed before, this will use your existing profile.
Good luck !
So wait, I make a folder in program files called “Firefox (pigfoot)” Without the quotes. And unzip the files into that folder. Am i right?
Btw, what one do i download? The Portable Edition? Or the P3/P2/P1 Build?
Just extract it to any folder; if you double-click and accept the default, you will end up with a folder on your Desktop called “Firefox” and you can move it anywhere on your system and double-click firefox.exe and it will use the same profile as your regular Firefox installation (if you have used Firefox before, which you should at least once).
I would recommend using the non-portable builds if you want to use the profile from your regular Firefox installation, because the Portable version makes its own profile folder adjacent to its installation folder, which is mostly good if you’re carrying it around on a USB drive.
Also, I believe the Firefox 3.6 Release builds are being uploaded to his FTP (en-US is already available), and he provides his mozconfig file with every release, although I’m not sure how well the Visual C++ compiler flags will translate to GCC.
As for optimizing Minefield (3.7) trunk builds, it’s enough work as it is to push out the betas, release candidates, and security updates, in both Portable and ordinary versions, with optimizations for 3 levels of the Pentium processors, and in numerous localizations, and there would be too many complaints about stuff being broken if he served up pre-alphas.
What’s the difference between this and the 3.6final? I can’t find anything on the official site. I’m trying to decide if it’d be worth it to get this version, and whether it’s likely pigfoot will feel the need to release 3.6.
(He didn’t release 3.5.6 or 3.5.7, which were really insignificant improvements)
Please help! After reinstalling Windows my portable pigfoot’s Firefox doesn’t work! Before reinstalling it was copied to another drive, with all my preferencies. When I trying to start it notification appears ”..memory cannot be ”read”’ and Firefox crashes! But I love this vershon. How can I solve this problem? Firefox 3.5.5 P3 build portable..
Well, actually, nothing is different between 3.6 RC2 and 3.6 final, because when rc2 didn’t have any fatal bug found, its code was just passed down to the final build.
Pigfoot must have thought it’s not necessary to build 3.6 final because of that.
The files marked “3.6 Release” are currently at http://ftp.twaren.net/local-distfiles/pigfoot/firefox/archives/
(Though, there might be pretty much no difference between the RC2 and Release.)
Actually, trying it out, I got odd “No XBI binding” errors when trying to start it up… (described here, but the fix doesn’t work: http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/releases/fix-extensions.html ) I had to install the regular Firefox 3.6 first using the official installer, and then copy the optimized files over on top of that install.
