Microsoft flags Gmail as a virus, form News.com.
From late last week until Sunday night, the Windows Live OneCare security software incorrectly flagged the Google e-mail service as a threat.
A warning popped up when OneCare users opened the Gmail Web site, telling them that their systems were infected with a virus called “BAT/BWG.A.”

It seems that Microsoft gotta long long way to go due to high false positive rate.

Google testing Sun’s OpenSolaris, sources say, from digg.
Google is experimenting with the open-source version of Sun Microsystems Inc.’s Solaris operating system as a possible long-term prelude to replacing its massive global network of Linux servers, according to sources.
With dozens of data centers worldwide estimated to house hundreds of thousands of Intel servers, this would be huge for Solaris.
Google runs a stripped-down version of Red Hat Linux specially modified by its engineers. But another source, a Solaris systems administrator who recently interviewed for a job at Google, said he was told the company plans to create and test its own modified version of OpenSolaris.
Google officials declined to comment.

Google Warns Users About “Unsafe Sites”, from Slashdot.
“The BBC is reporting that Google will start to warn users about unsafe websites, in particular those that host spyware or have privacy implications.
The technology to do this has been developed in partnership with StopBadware, and appears to be an alternative to the popular McAfee SiteAdvisor application.
Perhaps this will help curtail slimeware ridden sites from peddling their wares. But it will be interesting to see how Google rates some of its own products, including the potentially risky Google Desktop.”
