iTunes 6 finally cracked, from Engadget.

昨天才在說 WM DRM 可以被破解後, 今天又看到 Engadget 上說有個軟體 QTFairUse6 可以用來破解 iTunes (6.0.4 - 6.0.5). 沒錯, 看來就是之前 QTFairUse 的衍生版本.

It seems to me that QTFairUse6 is a python program using pydbg to grab the AAC from memory after it has been decrypted but before it has been decrypted.

Windows Media DRM 授權保護機制被一套叫做 FairUse4WM 的軟體破解了, 目前可以破解的苦主是 Windows Media DRM 10 和 11 (不包括 WM DRM 9).

今天在 DK blog 上看到這句話: (如果不能這樣引用, DK 長輩記得通知我啊~)

有很多人認為 DRM 是用於「保障著作人的權利」(Digital “Rights” Management)，但實際上 DRM 一定可以被破解，無法保障著作人的權利。DRM 真正的用途如同自由軟體基金會所說的，是「限制使用人的權利」(Digital “Restrictions” Management)，並藉由限制使用人的權利而宣稱可以保障著作人的權利。

突然發現之前雖然聽過, 卻沒啥感覺, 但是看到 FairUse4WM 這個軟體之後, 熊熊發現這句話還真是貼切啊~

Real to plug Windows media support into Linux, from News.com.

Currently, Linux users can play Windows Media Video (WMV) and Windows Media Audio (WMA) content if they install RealNetworks’s closed-source modules which Novell will include in its Suse Linux Enterprise Desktop 10 in the fourth quarter. Furthermore, RealNetworks will release open-source code to play the files as part of the Helix Community project as well.

It’s special that it will change as the result of settlement of an antitrust suit against the software giant Microsoft.

RealNetworks also is evaluating adding support for the AAC, an audio compression format used by Apple Computer’s iTunes and others.

AMD to buy ATI, from The Register.

AMD and ATI are to tie the knot, the two companies confirmed this morning, ending weeks of frenzied speculation in the process. The merged business will form a “formidable” competitor to Intel, Nvidia and other chip makers, the pair suggested.

看起這個消息是確定了. AMD 以 54 億美元買下 ATI. AMD 的首頁也有新聞了.

前幾天寫的 Install iTunes without QuickTime Player 有提到 Apple 的 iTunes 可以 Subscribe Podcast. 接著印象中台灣的電台好像也是躍躍欲試. 所以用一些 keyword 找了一下 google, 發現 e天下 的這篇「中廣、ICRT、台北之音開Podcast戰場」.

找了一下那些電台網頁, 一開始還覺得他們網頁真容易迷路 (LIP — Lost in pages), 後來突然一想, 該不會是電台來亂的, 想沾一下 iPod 的邊吧? 就把重心放到證明這個消息是不是空穴來風, 就發現廖長輩的 blog 這篇「廣播電台的 podcast」, 以及 google search 到在 老地方冰果室交流區 的文章, 才發現原來新聞的真會騙人啊!

目前找的到的 Podcast 台灣電台有:

• 全國廣播
• ICRT

接著手又不小心滑了一下, 看了一下這些 Podcast 的 RSS (全國廣播的RSS, ICRT 的 RSS, MSNBC 的 RSS), 原來這只是 RSS 中描述數位音樂檔的 URL 而己. 比方說全國廣播的數位音樂檔放在這, ICRT 放在這, MSNBC 放在這. (不過 MSNBC 的 Directory 不會 show 出內容) 也就是說 Podcast 算是一個 Middleware 來讓使用者方便的選擇自己有興趣的數位音樂檔.

找到這裡, 就想起有不少商業軟體其實可以作到類似的功能, 而且這樣預先錄製好的音樂倒不如 Streaming 吸引我. 或許這更適合個人電台吧. 所以最後找了一下如何自已製作 Podcast 節目, 找到博落豬格在 2005 年四月寫的 Podcast Q&A, 相當詳細, 有興趣想要自己玩的話可以參考參考囉 :)

至於國外的 Podcast 呢? 那真的是 another story 了, 下次再和大家分享.

PS: 不過我在 iTunes 的 Podcast 有聽到老狗的交大烤香腸, 哈哈, 真好玩 :)

Apple 的 iTunes 其實還蠻好用的, 也有 Podcasts 可以訂閱. 目前 iTunes 的 stable version 是 6.0.0.18.

雖然 iTunes 是免費的, 但是卻會順便裝 Apple QuickTime, 很遺憾, 我非常不喜歡 QuickTime Player, 這是也我不喜歡 iTunes 的原因. 後來有試出一個方法可以只裝 iTunes 不要裝 QuickTime Player 的方法, 那就是裝 K-Lite Mega Codec Pack 或是 QuickTime Alternative. 不過隨著 QuickTime 也更新到 7.0, 這個方法也要作小小的更改. 步驟如下:

1. uninstall iTunes
2. uninstall QuickTime
3. install K-Lite Mega Codec Pack 1.40+, Updated QuickTime Alternative to version 1.65+
4. Or install QuickTime Alternative 1.65+, which updated QT components to version 7.0.3.5+
5. install iTunes (en, 中文版)

要注意的是 QuickTime Alternative 一定要用 1.65 以上 (aka K-Lite Mega Codec Pack 1.40 以上), 用 1.53 的話, 裝 iTunes 6 時會偵測到系統中沒裝 QuickTime 7, 一樣會幫你裝進 Computer System 中而前功盡棄.

那原先的 QuickTime 影片 (.mov vice versa) 怎麼播呢? 事實上用 Windows Media Player 就可以播放囉!
